Final Exams

Important KUSD High School Policy Changes

Final Exam Policy

● All high school students will take final exams for all classes, including Cambridge and Dual Credit Classes. No Exam Exemptions.

High School Attendance Policy

● To receive credit for the semester, 90% attendance is required in each assigned class (ARS §15-803B).

● Students with more than 7 unexcused absences will lose credit.

● Classes missed due to school-approved activities, e.g. field trips, performing groups, student council, etc., are excluded. Administrators can authorize additional absences for extended illness, injury, or extenuating circumstances upon receipt of satisfactory documentation. Without supporting documentation, a student with more than 7 unexcused absences per semester will lose credit.

● Excused absences must be verified by a parent/guardian by phone, note, or in Synergy within 24 hrs of the student returning to school. After 24 hours the absence can no longer be considered excused.

● Even if credit is lost the student will remain in the current class for the remainder of the semester.

● Option to earn back credit - At the end of the semester, a student who has exceeded 7 unexcused absences will need to earn an 80% on the semester final or test out exam to earn credit. Credit will show as a CR on the transcripts.

● Parents may access their student’s attendance information online using ParentVUE after obtaining the activation key from the guidance office.

● For more attendance information please refer to the student handbook on the school’s website.
