A Message from Our Principal
We are underway with the new school year and students are working hard. Our Student Council got the year started right by working with incoming Freshman, making them feel welcome and provide support and guidance as they start their high school journey. Having only 9th graders only for the first two mornings has been wonderful. It was refreshing to see all of the returning students after their summer break. With the four-day school week, it is important that all students are here every day and engaged in their learning.
Our goal is to have students engaged in their learning by taking quality notes, using those notes to complete assignments, and critically think and problem solve. As I dropped by classes, I see wonderful learning taking place and students actively involved. We do have opportunities for students that may need more time and practice or make up missing or incomplete work by attending After School Tutoring, 3:00 – 4:00, Monday – Thursday with transportation provide afterwards. We will also have Friday School monthly 8:00am – 11:30am. Interventions are not punishment, it is designed for students to get individual help or a place to study or complete work. Students can leave when they have completed the work, whether it takes 20 minutes or 2 hours.
Athletics are starting and we are looking forward to seeing our student athletes perform and represent KHS. There are also a number of clubs and activities that students can participate in, never too late to get involved.
Parent/Teacher Conference will be August 29th from 1:00pm – 7:00pm and Thursday, August 30th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm by appointment only. We would love to see you here, if you cannot make it, please email or call teachers to track their progress.
If you have question, concerns, or comments, I would love to hear from you. My email is firstname.lastname@example.org and my phone number is 928-692-6410.
Thank you for supporting Kingman High School.”
