A Message from Our Principal

Rusty Moomey

Principal

“Dear Parents,

We are underway with registration and excited for the start of a new year. Our Student Council will get the year started right by working with incoming Freshman, making them feel welcome and provide support and guidance as they start their high school journey. Having only 9 th graders for the first two mornings will help ease their anxiety. It is always refreshing to see the returning students after their summer break. With the four-day school week, it is important that all students are here every day and engaged in their learning.

Our goal is to have students engaged in their learning by taking quality notes, using those notes to complete assignments, and to critically think and problem solve. We do have opportunities for students that may need more time and practice or need to make up missing or incomplete work by attending After School Tutoring from 3:15 – 4:15, Monday – Thursday with transportation provide afterwards. We will also have a monthly Friday School from 8:00am – 11:30am. Interventions are not punishment and are designed for students to get individual help, provide a place to study, or complete work. Students can leave when they have completed the work, whether it takes 20 minutes or 2 hours.

Athletics will soon start and we look forward to seeing our student athletes perform and represent KHS. There are also a number of clubs and activities that students can participate in, it is never too late to get involved.

Back to School Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 1 st from 5:30pm – 7:30pm in our cafeteria. It is a time to take a tour and follow your student’s schedule, see our clubs and activities, and meet the teachers. We will be serving hot dogs, chips, and dessert, so bring the family. Parent/Teacher Conferences will be Wednesday, August 28 th from 1:00pm – 7:00pm and Thursday, August 29 th from 1:00pm – 4:00pm by appointment only. We would love to see you here. If you cannot make it, please email or call teachers to track your student’s progress.

If you have question, concerns, or comments, I would love to hear from you. My email is rmoomey@kusd.org and my phone number is 928-692-6410.

Thank you for supporting Kingman High School.”
