We are almost to the end of Quarter 1 and it has been a great start. Students have been working hard and are getting involved in their education. Our teachers have worked with them on how to take quality notes and how to use those notes. We have a long way to go but I appreciate their commitment and work.
Our Parent/Teacher conferences were a success and I want to thank each of you for coming and spending time with our staff. If you could not attend, please email your student’s teachers and set up a time for them to call or email. It is important to us that parents know what is happening and how their student are performing.
As the quarter draws to a close, we have opportunities for students to catch up on missing assignments or to improve their grades. This Friday, September 16, we will hold our second Friday School. It starts at 8:00 am and ends at 11:30am and will meet in the library, NO transportation is provided. We also have After School Tutoring, 3:30 – 4:30, Monday – Thursday with transportation provide afterwards. Interventions are not punishment, it is designed for students to get individual help or a place to study or complete work. Students can leave when they have completed the work, whether it takes 20 minutes or 2 hours.
During the first week of Intersession, students that are failing and in jeopardy of losing credit can come and get caught up. It will start promptly at 8:00am and end at 12:00pm, Monday thru Friday. Lunch will not be provided. Any student is welcome but we will sending letters home inviting specific students.
Athletics are well under way and we are looking forward to seeing our student athletes perform and represent KHS. There are also a number of clubs and activities that students can participate in, never too late to get involved.
