BOOK LIMIT/LOAN PERIOD
You may check-out up to 2 books UNLESS it is for a class project then other limits may apply.
The loan period is 2 weeks. You can check out: books, videos, magazines, and maps.
BULLDOG BOOK CLUB
The Bulldog Book Club (B.B.C.) is a teen book discussion club that is a lot of fun! We read a selected work, meet and talk about it! Weekly meetings are also held to handle club responsibilities. Speak with Ms. Hoffer if you are interested.
COMPUTERS
The library has 28 computers available for student use. Sign up at the circulation desk. The internet is for school research only. Due to viruses: no email, games, online chat, or my space allowed. If you want to use your flash or jump drives, bring it to a teacher or library staff member to be scanned for viruses. Warning: if your jump drive has a virus or is corrupted, the scan will automatically delete all contents.
Computer programs: Microsoft Office / Open Office (LAB B). The printer charge is 5 cents a page/limit 15 pages per day. Large graphics will cost 10 cents a page.
KHS STUDENT ID / LIBRARY CARD
Your KHS student ID is your library card. It is REQUIRED to check out materials and/or use the computers. We will hold materials for three days should you not have your ID with you.
OVERDUE MATERIALS
The library does not charge fines for overdue materials; however, you will pay the cost of replacing a damaged or lost item. Overdue notices are sent as a reminder to return materials. If items are returned in good condition, the replacement fee indicated on the overdue notice will be WAIVED. If you have outstanding materials, you will NOT be able to participate in extracurricular activities (dances, etc.), get a yearbook, pick up your cap and gown, or walk at graduation. Please return materials in a timely manner to allow your fellow students access to materials.
PHOTOCOPIER
For your convenience, we have a self-serve copier. Just make your copies and pay at the circulation desk. Printing is 5 cents a page/limit 15 pages per day.
STUDENT VISITS
Up to 5 students per class/per hour can use the library provided each student has a signed handbook to use the library. When you enter the library you should go to the circulation desk and:
1) Let us know who your teacher is and what class you are from; 2) show us your signed handbook or TA pass; 3) Sign our clipboard; and 4) Let us know if there is something we can help you with.
REPAIRS
$1.00 charge to books that need minor repairs. If a book is damaged beyond repair, you will be charged the total cost of replacing the book.
CONSEQUENCES FOR INAPPROPRIATE BEHAVIOR
Consequences for computer misuse include: verbal warning (1st offense), referral and 10 day computer ban (2nd offense), and semester ban from the library and/or computers (3rd offense).
Consequences for inappropriate library behavior may include: teacher/student conference, referral to the Assistant Principal’s Office and/or ban from the library.
